Shoplifter banned from stores for five years

A prolific shoplifter from Redditch has been banned from three shops for five years after a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) was granted against him.

Rhys Parker, 32, of Dolben Lane, Redditch was handed the CBO at Worcester Magistrates Court on Friday (20 June) following his conviction for seven thefts.

Parker was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, fined a total of £90 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £154.

His CBO means he is prohibited from entering the following stores for five years - until 20 June 2030: -

1. The One Stop Shop, Winyates Centre, Redditch

2. Morrisons Daily, Matchborough Centre, Redditch

3. Tesco Express, Willow Way, Redditch

Police Sergeant Craig Osborne, of Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We hope the CBO granted against Parker shows we take crimes against retailers seriously and that it will prevent him from further targeting these stores.

“Acquisitive crimes like shoplifting have a negative impact on the businesses in our town and ultimately can impact the customers too as costs to retailers increase.

“Anyone who see Parker entering any of these stores should report it to us via our website at https://www.westmercia.police.uk/ro/report/ocr/af/how-to-report-a-crime/ or 101.”
